Again this year in sweltering conditions ten Wantage Gymnasts took part in the County Full Apparatus Competition at Phoenix Gymnastics Club at Maidenhead competing on the floor, bars, beam and vault.All ten gymnasts worked really hard and competed to a high standard on the day and the results were as follows:

Congratulations to Joanna Tooley, Stephanie Burbidge, Alice Salt and Abbie Rawlings who qualified for the Southern Region Out of Age Championships to be held on Sunday 24th June at Phoenix Gymnastics Club Berkshire and to Samantha Thurgood and Lisa Henry who qualified for the Southern Region In Age Championships to be held in September at Basingstoke Gymnastics club.
Wantage Gymnasts – Report - Sunday 28th October
Wantage competiors came away from the Oxfordshire Individual Apparatus Competition in Maidenhead with 14 medals, including 7 golds. The golds came from Chloe Palmer (level 5 beam), Lisa Henry (level 4 floor), Rebekah Godden (level 4 Vault), Abbie Rawlings (level 4 Bars), Jonnaa Tooley (level 3 Vault), Stephanie Burbridge (level 3 Bars) and Alice Salt (level 3 Floor).
In addition, Joanna Tooley won the trophy for the best Vault of the day. Rebekah Godden's vault earned the highest individual score, as did Abbie Rawlings's performance on the bars.
Club Competition – Report - Sunday 25th November
Stephanie Burbridge won the award as the most improvedgymnast of the year at the Wantage's club championships at the Wantage Leisure Centre. The Club Person of the year was treasurer Ann Palmer.
The prize-Winners were :- Under 7 - Vault (joint) Polly Hitchings, Rebecca Griffin and Rose Kent. Bars Polly Hitchings. Beam Emma Chenery. Floor Polly Hitchings Overall (joint) Polly Hitchings, Emma Chenery.
Over the past two
weekends Wantage Gymnasts have taken part in the Southern Region Club Grades
competition held at Milton Keynes and Basingstoke.
The first weekend
saw 20 Clubs with 111 gymnasts battle it out over a long day of competition
where Alice Salt passed her Grade 1, Abbie Rawlings passed her Grade 3 and Lisa Henry passed her Grade 4. The next weekend
of competition saw the younger members of the Club competing and Floella
Piddington, Samantha Thurgood and Lara Green all passed their Grade 5 and Polly
Hitchings, Rebecca Griffin, Emma Chenery and Rose Kent all passed their Grade 6
and qualified to compete in the next round at the Southern Region Club Grade
Final in Milton Keynes in April.

Sunday 19th October 2008
Wantage Gymnasts had a very successful weekend
with 10 gymnasts competing against 56 other gymnasts from across Oxfordshire in
the Oxfordshire County Gymnastics Association, Individual Apparatus Championships
held at Phoenix Gymnastics Club at Maidenhead on Sunday 19th October where they
won 3 Gold, 6 Silver and 7 Bronze
Medals.
All the Gymnasts competed on two pieces of
equipment of their choice from Vault, Bars, Beam and Floor as well as competing
in their appropriate age groups.
At Level 5(In Age) Emma Chenery was 1st on the Vault and 5th on the Floor. Polly
Hitchings was 1st on the Bars and 2nd on the Floor,
Rebecca Griffin was 2nd on the Bars and 3rd on the Floor
and Rose Kent was 3rd on the Vault and 2nd on the Beam.
At Level 5 (Out
of Age) Hannah Barton was 3rd on the Beam
and 4thth on the Bars with Chloe Palmer 5th on both the
Beam and Floor.
At Level 4 (Out
of Age) Lisa Henry was 2nd on the Beam and 3rd on the Bars.
At level 3 (Out of Age) Stephanie Burbidge was 2nd on the
Floor and 3rd on the Bars and Joanna Tooley was 3rd on the Vault and
Bars.
At level 2Alice Salt was 2nd on the Bars and 1st on the
Floor.
In addition trophies were awarded to the gymnast
who had the highest score on each individual piece of equipment and Alice Salt
won the trophy for her Floor Routine with a score of 12.70.
